BE A GOSPEL MERCHANT

I've begun to notice a trend in church circles, and that is the apathy towards the sharing of the gospel. There seems to be an over concentration of the members of the church with themselves that we forget those who are without. A vibrant and living church is one which consistently depopulates the kingdom of the devil and adds to God's Kingdom. The longer we stay in our nice auditoriums, the more the devil sends people to hell. The gospel is the news that is too good to be true. It should be easier to talk about than sports and politics. You do not need skill or expertise to talk about Jesus.  It was said of Peter and John "Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus". They were unlearned men.

We were instructed by our Pastor as youths in the church to engage in Evangelism this weekend. So we gathered as youths to go on this mission. I went out with another brother in church. We began to pray before we left and I began to to sense that God will be strategically bringing some people on our path. And that He did. I spoke to a young man who just finished from one of the tertiary institutions in the country. At the end of our conversation, God took hold of him and he gave his life to Christ.

God wants us to be gospel merchants. No one is too big to preach the gospel. The truth is that no matter the level God raises you up to, there are people at that level of yours that need to hear the good news.
I usually say that the least you can do is to pray for those you want God to save. But you must move on from there, start a conversation with someone about Jesus. You never know, that person might just be a step away from hell. Be the link to someone's salvation.

Let's end with this admonition from Paul to Timothy "Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine"

Central Truth: be a carrier of the gospel not only in actions but in words.
ACTION POINT: Talk to someone this week about the saving grace of Christ and invite him/her into a relationship with God.

FOCUS SCRIPTURE: 2 Timothy 4:2

Prayer:
LORD, help me to be steadfast in the preaching of the gospel. Let me not be weary when it comes to talking about Jesus in Jesus Name. Amen
