There is a tremendous Blessing in the transfer of grace from a father to a son. When we do a head count of the great men alive today, from the church down to other aspects of life, many of them are aging. It is time for the younger generation, that is you and I, to connect to the blessings and grace that these men and women carry.
Thinking of the blessing of Abraham. Isaac his son couldn't have received The Blessing any other way than through his father. God had blessed Abraham and swore by Himself to bless him. Isaac received the Blessing from his father. Jacob cheated his brother, but he also received The Blessing. Jacob blessed his grandsons but it seems the children of Ephraim and Manasseh were not interested in The blessing. Hence, the transfer of The blessing was not recorded in scripture any more until Jesus came.
Now, the charge here is for us to connect to our fathers, leaders, those who have gone ahead of us. There is much to learn and receive. Do not let them die like Elisha. We must be a recipient of the Grace they carry.
One scripture comes to mind here. It would be beneficial if you read Proverbs 30:11-14. Here are of two of the verses: "There is a generation that curseth their father, and doth not bless their mother.... There is a generation, O how lofty are their eyes! and their eyelids are lifted up."
This generation speaks evil of their fathers. In the news you can hear and read all kinds of negative things been said and written about men that God has ordained over the church in this age. The very men and women who are to equip us, to perfect us as Saints are being maligned. It seems every statement a Pastor or leader makes is an avenue for the media to profit from.
Don't be a part of that generation. Be part of the ones that respect their fathers, that receives instructions from their mothers. Connect to Grace!
Central Truth: You cannot stand alone. Connect to the grace of those ahead of you.
FOCUS SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 30:11-14
Prayer:
LORD, have mercy on this generation that despises the relevance of our fathers. Help me rather to sit and learn under their tutelage in Jesus Name. Amen
