CHRIST OR FATHER CHRISTMAS?

This season (Christmas) is a unique one, one that is remarkable. However, for many, the mental picture that comes to mind when Christ is mentioned is Holidays, Plenty of food, merriment, and most especially Father Christmas.

The identity of Father Christmas has so engulfed our minds that the essence of the season is often times lost. Today during Christmas we take kids to go see Father Christmas, they're happy to receive gifts. Is that all?

Let's get back to the scriptures to get an understanding. It is  recorded that wise men came from the east to give gifts to Jesus and to worship. Christmas is a about Jesus, today Jesus is still in the 'Manger' though not literally, but he's amongst the less privileged, the homeless, the naked, those in prison. The wise men gave precious gifts, we are to do likewise this season, the Shepherds Praised God, we are to do likewise this season, though the savior has not and would never be reborn, we must live with the revelation of God's plan that was FINISHED in Jesus Christ.

Here's why you should celebrate Jesus "For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace."

Central Truth: Christmas is not for Father Christmas but for Jesus Christ. Don't let Santa seize the show.

FOCUS SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 9:6

PRAYER
LORD, help me to live in the understanding of what Jesus came to accomplish for us in Jesus Name.
